
We write on behalf of Rotarian Enid Nambuya, the Vice President of the Rotary Club of Kampala, for assistance to enable her daughter undergo re-induction cancer treatment to be followed by a bone marrow transplant in India.
Kirabo Mirembe is a 5 year old leukemic cancer survivor, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2009, underwent treatment and was declared in remission and cancer free in June 2011.
However on 25th November 2011, she suffered a relapse and had to be rushed back to India where she had been previously treated after being referred there by Mulago hospital. She is currently an in-patient at the Apollo Specialty hospital in Chennai under the care of Dr Revathi Raj awaiting a Bone Marrow Transplant that should be carried out in February 2012, after all payment is made.
The initial cost of treatment was estimated at USD 108,200 as broken down below.
- Re induction and bone marrow transplant = $85,000 (Can be paid into hospital account see attached details).
- Upkeep $100 dollars per day for 5 months = $23,200 (can be sent via western Union. It includes hospital stay, nursing care, consumables including products from the blood bank which are not free, meals and Doctors costs which are not part of 1 above).
To-date a total of US$ 23,000 has been raised from family, Rotarians and friends leaving an outstanding balance of US$ 85,200. This is therefore to request for your support to give Kirabo a gift of life.
